This literature class explores and discovers the literary genre mystery. Using three mysteries by Agatha Christie, the following is studied: intricate plots, unique characteristics of multiple suspects, vocabulary peculiar to this genre, settings, and Christie's tools for discovering clues and solving crimes. Also included is a biographical research, understanding the history of mystery, and writing a mystery short story.

This College Prep English course will consider how the author and reader view and use humor in literature. Humor is not always funny, but it is always insightful. It can be used to humor in literature. It can be used tocalm a tense situation, encourage others, and provide a change of pace in life. This course will provide plenty of opportunities to read humorous material as well as to write humorouspieces. Research skills will also be covered.
